Eating Fish

My (real) name is obviously not Greymalkin, but the alias I use on this blog. Can’t write it down any clearer than that.

I feel that religion as a whole should be booted out of public life; government, schools, and any other aspect of every day life. Why? Because it has no place and no right interfering in other people’s life and it should not be allowed to impose it’s medieval moral values and dogma’s on others. It hinders social, cultural and intellectual progress and it is the cause of many (global and local) conflicts. I do not have the illusion all war will vanish from this world along with religion, but I’d say it’s a good place to start.

Don’t call me an atheist or consider me an atheist; it’s a stupid label designed to put me into a little box. I don’t go in boxes, I try to think outside the box and invite you to do the same. Take a step back from what you believe (whatever you believe) and analyze it using your common sense. Then admit to yourself if you are fooling yourself if your faith hasn’t survived this scrutiny.

I’m from the Netherlands, which often pretends to be a secular state to the outside world, but is a Christian democracy like most Western countries are. Religion makes the news almost daily and I definitely have an opinion about it. If at any time you feel I am disrespectful to your faith, whatever your faith is, I basically don’t care. You can use your freedom of speech (if there is such a thing in your country) to tell me I’m an idiot in the comments (I don’t sensor comments, I will only remove spam), and i will use mine to bounce that ball right back towards you whenever I feel like it. I’m also not forcing anyone to read my dribble.

I hope you enjoy my rambling on religion, (in)tolerance, politics, society, culture, basic human rights and rational thought (from the perspective of a random European).
